The Militia of the Immaculata (MI) is a worldwide evangelization movement founded by St. Maximillion
Kolbe in 1917 that encourages total consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary as a means of personal
conversion and sanctification, and of spiritual renewal of society. The movement is open to all Catholics
over 7 years old, laity, clergy, and consecrated persons.
The MI members employ prayer and self-sacrifice as the main tools in the spiritual battle for the victory
of good over evil. They also engage in various sectors of society, either individual or in groups, to give
witness to the Lord and our Catholic Faith and spread devotion to the Virgin Mary.
Church approval in 1922. Finally, the MI was erected as an International Public Association of the
Faithful by the Holy See in 1997 headquartered in Rome. The MI-USA headquarters are in Peoria, Illinois.
